A new game from some old friends of mine. Steve Port, a great event organizer and store owner, was part of my Wizards of the Coast Organized Play world for a lot of years. Now, through his Legion Games, Steve has ventured out into the game production business!
Foretold is their first offering and is a strategic free-for-all game based on Greek mythology and history. Designed from the ground up for a great multiplayer experience, Foretold players build unique temples, raise armies and form alliances – as they strive to become a deity of true legend!
Foretold combines familiar elements of collectible card games and deck-building games, then adds an interesting tower defense mechanism. Essentially you control the way your Temple changes and grows. Some players will do this more as part of their strategy while other players will concentrate on building followers to attack other player’s temples. There are multiple paths to winning. Something I like. There also is a good amount of unpredictability, bluffing and strategic thinking with just a small amount of luck. I feel in control without luck overwhelming me at crucial times. The way I fail something like a raid is the surprise of the other player playing things I can’t counter or doing the unexpected, like flipping a temple tile I didn’t see coming.
Foretold is designed for maximum replayability with a Marketplace and deck of Temple Tiles that offer continuous change. With four different Fate alignments to choose, no two games will ever be the same!
Foretold: Rise of a God is a complete base game, built with expansion in mind. Enfranchised players will come back for future expansions which, according to Legion, are already in development!
