Day one but already for us day 2 dawned with Lance and I walking the trade hall from the moment it opened. We were on a mission to see what new products we could repot back on. Worthy notes were:
DropZone have a new 2 player starter set. This UK based sci-fi miniature skirmish company announced that just moments before, meaning we were amongst the first to get our hands on it. Retailing close to $100, It’ll have everything you need to play. Including minis, terrain, rules, quick reference sheets, dice and even a retractable ruler for range and movement.
We stopped by and spoke with the owner and designer of this intriguing game. I’ve covered monolith on our website before but not actually played a game. Having the game and parts is one thing but getting the play the game with the actual designer talking about the game as you play is another. This game is now a firm favorite of mine even though Lance beat me, just. It plays very fast, is super quick to pick up on but the complexity of the strategy to playing, is only uncovered as you play games. One huge positive for me was the way each game was set up is random, making no two games the same. Even round to round your strategy changes as the game board shifts and lady luck dictates your abilities for that turn. Shutting some things down and opening other opportunities. That means you think quickly and no repetitive moves make the game stale. Awesome experience.
