Penny Arcade and ReedPop are teaming up once more to sponsor a new convention in Philadelphia this November, called PAX Unplugged, and it’s primary focus will be on tabletop games.
In the past, their previous cons (PAX East/West/South/Aus/Dev) have focused primarily on video games, but PAX Unplugged will be their first show dedicated to the tabletop hobby. While there are currently dozens of popular conventions, their two biggest competitors are Gen Con in Indianapolis, Indiana and Origins Game Fair in Columbus, Ohio. While the question of which “big” con to attend may be a challenge for some fans, its scheduling and its location opens up opportunities for players who may not have the time or the disposable income to make cross-country journeys.
While there are very few details at this time, the buzz surrounding this event is generating a lot of interest. Considering PAX’s popularity in the gaming community overall, the expectations and the potential of this convention are very high. Badges for PAX Unplugged will go on sale this spring. We’ll keep you posted on any future developments as they arise.
