Axiara Wraithblade — Cryx Character Solo (metal)
Admiral Axiara Wraithblade is one of the most feared women on the Meredius and oversees countless pirate flotillas from her flagship, the Morbid Angel. Wraithblade earned her moniker from the blood-consecrated sword Anathema she wields. The weapon is a relic of Satyx, purified by blood priestesses in a ritual of carnage to infuse it with occult power. When she cuts enemies down by its edge, the spilled blood allows her to become as insubstantial as smoke, letting her bypass enemy defenses to close on her chosen foe.
Axiara Wraithblade brings a wide variety of support options to her army. Her Battle Plans grant unique options to living infantry in the form of Prowl, Dodge, or Reposition. She supports Satyxis Raiders (PIP34099), Satyxis Gun Slingers (PIP34132), Black Ogrun Smog Belchers (PIP34150), and Blighted Trollkin Marauders (PIP34151). When not supporting her army, Axiara brings a MAT 8 P+S 13 weapon master sword to make sure your opponent doesn’t forget about her!
Scharde Dirge Seers — Cryx Unit (3) (metal)
Among those in the Scharde Islands, some humans possess the gift of sorcery, kindled and enhanced by Toruk’s blight. Covens of these women may join the Cryxian pirate fleets, guided by inscrutable omens. Enthralled by the thrumming of blight in their flesh and blood, they indulge in feats of violence, showering in the blood of sacrifices while screaming prayers to the Dragonfather. Some captains feed a coven a steady supply of victims, hoping that amid tortured screams, portents of their future will be revealed.
Scharde Dirge Seers bring a new form of utility to a Cryxian army. With Guidance, they combine well with ranged models, especially warjacks (Leviathan, PIP34077; Sepulcher, PIP34117; Kraken, PIP34117). As a light melee unit with offensive spells, the Seers can also benefit greatly from spells like Dark Guidance (Pirate Queen Skarre, PIP34068) or The Withering (Warwitch Deneghra, PIP34086).
Misery Cage — Cryx Solo (2) (resin)
Misery cages are a cruel twist on the gibbets used on the mainland to punish pirates. While a mundane gibbet holds a living prisoner to waste away, a misery cage wrings arcane power from the flesh and souls of any locked away within. Cryxians stuff the dead and dying into misery cages so warcasters can draw upon their essence to fuel their profane magic, which renders the body within to crumbling ash, a terrifying but relatively merciful end.
The Misery Cage is a warcaster support model that gives extra focus to the already powerful spell-slinging warcasters of the Cryxian army. This additional focus is especially powerful on ’casters like Warwitch Deneghra (PIP34086), Goreshade the Bastard (PIP34088), and Lord Exhumator Scaverous (PIP34094).
Severa Blacktide — Cryx Character Solo (metal)
Found in the maelstrom of battle, her laughter punctuated by the crack of her pistols as she sows chaos and death, Severa Blacktide is a legendary Satyxis warrior. Blacktide is the finest Satyxis gunslinger alive and is counted among the premier gun mages in western Immoren. Each bullet through a rival gun mage’s skull or heart serves as another reminder that she has yet to meet her equal and perhaps never will.
Severa Blacktide brings some accurate, powerful, and useful ranged attacks to her army. Having an Elite Cadre for Satyxis Gunslingers, she grants these units Run & Gun, allowing them to play an effective skirmish game against infantry-based armies. Naturally, she complements Satyxis Gunslingers quite well and utilizes the many debuffs brought by many different Cryxian warcasters (Lich Lord Asphyxious, PIP34036; Warwitch Deneghra, PIP34086; and Deneghra, the Soul Weaver, PIP34105).
Scharde Pirates — Cryx Unit (11) (resin/metal)
Most of the living humans who serve Cryx do so as part of the pirate raiding fleets. They are notorious for being willful and bloodthirsty scoundrels of volatile temperament. Sailors in the Cryxian fleets bear marks of the Dragonfather’s blessing in the forms of scales, bony protrusions and horns growing out of their flesh. These pirates are hardy due in part to the blight toughening their bodies but much more so because their lives are brutal and their battles frequent.
Scharde Pirates form the front lines of the Slaughter Fleet Raiders. With their Officer included, the unit gains the Assault rule for their sprays, allowing them to wreak havoc on opposing infantry units. Because of these spray attacks, the Scharde Pirates benefit well from reductions in enemy defenses. Screening Bloodgorger or Marauder units is a common use of Scharde Pirates while they surge ahead to tie up enemy troops.
Black Ogrun Smog Belchers — Cryx Unit (5) (resin/metal)
Publisher: Privateer Press
Item Code: PIP34150
Releases April 2018
Smog belchers are black ogrun who wield heavy, culverin-style cannons. Smog belcher weapons are crafted by skilled ironmongers, black ogrun metalsmiths who fuse their craft with rituals of bloodletting and dark magic. From the deck of a Cryxian vessel, smog belchers lay down a barrage of fire, filling the air with a lingering cloud of corrupting ash that rots flesh and blisters the lungs of anyone who breathes it.
Black Ogrun Smog Belchers are a strong fire-support unit that brings powerful cannons to bear on the enemy. Creating a wall of smoke as they open fire, they are commonly used with some of the more fragile Cryxian warcasters that require protection while moving around the battlefield (Master Necrotech Mortenebra, PIP34055; Lord Exhumator Scaverous, PIP34094). The Smog Belchers can also provide cloud cover for the back line of support models or even play in front of an army to focus enemy fire at themselves instead of at more desirable targets behind them.
Blighted Trollkin Marauders — Cryx Unit (10) (resin/metal)
Caring little for their own safety, blighted trollkin marauders swing braziers on long chains that blaze with fire fed by rendered body fat and whale oil. Marauders delight in setting fire to homes in the coastal communities they raid, waiting for the fleeing victims within to rush headlong into their waiting arms. They particularly enjoy the first bite of living flesh that has been blackened and blistered by their torches, and they find the smell of burning meat exquisite.
Blighted Trollkin Marauders are an aggressive melee/range unit hybrid. Ashen Veil grants them concealment and stacks up well with defensive spells such as Skarre, Admiral of the Black Fleet’s Deceleration or Lord Exhumartor Scaverous’s spell Death Ward (PIP34094), giving them increased defense and armor. Gerlak Slaughterborn (PIP34059) and Jussika Bloodtongue (PIP34145) both give benefits to this unit that allow them to hit more accurately and more often or to survive the enemy’s attacks.
