Gamelyn Games’s Tiny Epic series is known for putting a lot of strategic and exciting gameplay into a tiny box. Well, they’re at it again, leaving fantasy and sci-fi behind this time in favor of the American Old West.
In Tiny Epic Western, players place their cowboy meeple workers onto the various spaces on the “board,” which is comprised of location tiles. Each player will have a poker-style card in hand, numbered 1 to 5 and suited steer, horseshoes, tepees, or cowboy hats. More of these cards will be dealt between the location tiles, and after worker placement, each player’s “poker strength” at a given location will be based on that player’s card and the two cards next to the location. Multiple players can share a location’s spaces, but the more powerful poker hand will receive the greater rewards.
Players will be gathering law, money, and force, which can be spent to claim building cards for points. Duels over contested spaces will take place throughout the game, adding to the theme of the town not being big enough for the two of them—it is Tiny, after all.
